Tyler Dennis was born and raised in Houston, TX, but resides in Jackson, MS. She is the owner and founder of TyeSoulMusic. She started violin at the age of 8 years old, and has been singing since the age of 4 years old. She is a graduate of the High School for the Performing & Visual Arts (HSPVA '15, Houston). She holds both her Bachelor and Master's degrees in Music Education from Jackson State University along with certifications in Orff Schulwerk.
She is currently the Early Childhood Performing Arts Teacher at St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Jackson, MS. Additionally, she is a professional musician (violinist, singer & composer/arranger), a member of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra (MSO), the current Concertmistress of the Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra (MCO) of Jackson, MS, and a Violin/Voice/Piano Instructor for Sarah Walker Studios. She has performed in various parts of the U.S. (Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Chicago) as well as other countries such as St. Petersburg, Russia as a former member of the First Baptist Church Jackson String Ensemble. She collaborates with many well-known Mississippi musicians such as Temperance Babcock-Steiskal and Kate Morgan—flourishing in the wedding music business. Some large group features include AJC and the Envelope Pushers Band of Jackson, MS and the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic in Chicago, IL.
As a music educator and artist, she is spontaneous, creative, and always willing to develop and cultivate new skills. She enjoys coffee shops, dancing, musicals, jazz, traveling, writing and creating fresh, new music activities for her classroom. Her aspiration is to always nurture and inspire both her students and audiences with her artistic gifts---taking them on the journey of her testimony and life story through music and learning.
